Simpcw Archives & Resource Centre

For many decades researchers from within Simpcw and others from outside of the community have been learning and collecting information about Símpcwemc (Simpcw people), language and territory. Simpcw Archives holds the materials, reports, research and documents that have been generated or referenced in the course of these projects.

Collections held by the Simpcw Archives include maps, oral interviews, and photographs  in addition to archaeological artifacts and Title & Rights related records. Our substantial resource library contains books on a wide range of subjects including Simpcw Histories, Secwepemctsín and Language materials, First Nations Publications, Ethnographic, Ethnobotanical and Anthropological works, BC and Canadian Histories, and Treaty and Land Titles.

The Archives takes care of these collections to ensure that Símpcwemc researchers, staff, Administration, community members, and Council have access to the collections. Anyone may apply for access to the Archives, though Simpcw protocols in addition to Federal and Provincial privacy laws may have an impact on what information can be shared.

If you would like to do research in the Archives, please contact us for an appointment so that we can prepare for your visit in advance.
